Bio in brief: Cai Guo-Qiang was born in 1957 in Quanzhou City, Fujian Province, China. The son of a historian and painter, Cai was trained in stage design at the Shanghai Drama Institute from 1981 to 1985 and his work has, since the outset, been scholarly and often politically charged. Having accomplished himself across a variety of media, Cai initially began working with gunpowder to foster spontaneity and confront the suppression that he felt from the controlled artistic tradition and social climate in China at the time. While living in Japan from 1986 to 1995, Cai explored the properties of gunpowder in his drawings, an inquiry that eventually led to his experimentation with explosives on a massive scale, and the development of his signature explosion events, exemplified in his series, Projects for Extraterrestrials. These explosion projects, both wildly poetic and ambitious at their core, aim to establish an exchange between viewers and the larger universe around them.

Cutting edge cultural dialogue - Acclaimed British Muslim artist teams up with Arts Council England in groundbreaking US "Arts and Islam" tour
Mohammed Ali's unique fusion of aerosol art with Islamic calligraphy has taken an urban art form from street walls to galleries and spiritual art into new dimensions. His art has been reported as a "bridge of understanding" between faith communities across the world, and has been featured in international media ranging from CNN and the BBC to Al Jazeera. He has showcased his work across the UK, Dubai and Denmark and is looking forward to his first visit to the USA.
The tour is supported by Arts Council England, the national development agency for the arts in England. The Philips Academy, Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA), along with other cosponsors are hosting the Arts & Islam USA Tour featuring the acclaimed "urban Islamic" artist, Mohammed Ali of AerosolArabic. The Arts and Islam team will be visiting universities, arts organisations and community bodies across Chicago, New York, New Jersey and Boston.
In addition to the seminars, Mohammed Ali will be producing a series of commissioned spiritual murals, including a special mural in New York City commemorating the tragic death of 9 Bronx children who died in a blaze recently. Working with young people from all faith backgrounds, Mohammed will create wall murals reflecting the universal themes of spirituality and unity that connect people of all backgrounds and cultures. Mohammed has already produced a series of stunning murals across the UK which can be seen at the official Arts and Islam website http://www.artsandislam.com/murals
"The goal of this tour is to elucidate Islamic themes and messages through a medium which can universally be understood and appreciated by all. Mohammad Ali's work transcends artificial barriers such as ethnicity, nationality, class, and perceived religious differences which prevent us from understanding one another" said Azeem Khan, ICNA's Assistant Secretary General.

Young Gallery : Fine Art Photography
I came across this gallery while browsing around a friends blog, i've linked him at the bottom of the page. The gallery was started in 2000 by Pascal Young. Aerosol Arabic
Aerosol ArabicThe movement : fusing the love of graffiti with that of Islamic art.
AerosolArabic is the artwork of artist Mohammed Ali. Born and raised in Birmingham, UK. His work is influenced by both Urban-Street graffiti as well classical Islamic calligraphy, himself being once part of the underground graffiti scene within the UK, but has since left this and concentrated on painting canvas and exhibiting his work throughout the UK as well as abroad.
Mohammed's work is dope and you should definitely check out what he's all about. Keep in mind.. These are your peers, if your circle only talks about the limited edition kicks on your feet or where the next party is at you need to check yourself. Your kicks are cool and I rock them too but I certainly don't talk about them.
