If all goes as planned, the convenience store chain plans to refit 11 stores across the U.S. -- Richmond is an unlikely choice -- to resemble the front of the Kwik-E-Mart, the convenience store that Homer and other characters frequent in the classic cartoon TV series.

The History of Passover : To be Celebrated on April 2 & 3rd
The Passover Seder:
It is traditions for a Jewish family to gather on the first night of Passover for a special dinner called a Seder meaning “order” This dinner is to fulfill the Biblical dictum of “You should tell your child on that day.” Which is understood to be an obligation of retelling the story of the Exodus on the night of Passover.
The History of Passover:
Passover commemorates the Exodus and freedom of the Israelites from ancient Egypt. As described in the Book of Exodus, Passover marks the "birth" of the Children of Israel who become the Jewish nation, as the Jews' ancestors were freed from being slaves of Pharaoh and allowed to become followers of God instead.
The two names for the holiday are a coalescence of two related celebrations. The name Passover (Pesakh, meaning "skipping" or passing over) derives from the night of the Tenth Plague, when the Angel of Death saw the blood of the Passover lamb on the doorposts of the houses of Israel and "skipped over" them and did not kill their firstborn. The meal of the Passover Seder commemorates this event. The name Feast of Unleavened Bread (Chag Ha'Matsot) refers to the weeklong period when leaven has been removed, and unleavened bread or matzo ("flatbread") is eaten.
Together with Sukkot ("Tabernacles") and Shavuot ("Pentecost"), Passover is one of the three pilgrim festivals (Shloshet Ha'Regalim) during which the entire Jewish populace made a pilgrimage to Jerusalem, at the time when the Temple in Jerusalem was standing.
The Seder Plate
The Passover Seder Plate (ke'ara) is a special plate containing six symbolic foods used during the Passover Seder. Each of the six items arranged on the plate have special significance to the retelling of the story of the Exodus from Egypt. The seventh symbolic item used during the meal—a stack of three matzo—is placed on its own plate on the Seder table.
The six items on the Seder Plate are:
* Maror; A Type of bitter herb, symbolizing the bitterness and harshness of the slavery which the Jews endured in Ancient Egypt. For maror, many people use freshly grated horseradish or whole horseradish root. The horseradish may be eaten in fulfillment of the mitzvah of eating bitter herbs during the Seder.
* Charoset; A sweet, brown, pebbly mixture, representing the mortar used by the Jewish slaves to build the storehouses of Egypt. Typically apples, honey and nuts.
* Karpas; A vegetable other than bitter herbs, such as celery or cooked potato, which is dipped into salt water (Ashkenazi custom), vinegar (Sephardic custom) or charoset (older custom, still common amongst Yemenite Jews) at the beginning of the Seder.
* Z'roa; A roasted shank bone, symbolizing the korban Pesach (Pesach sacrifice), which was a lamb offered in the Temple in Jerusalem and was then roasted and eaten as part of the meal on Seder night.
* Beitzah; A roasted egg, symbolizing the korban chagigah (festival sacrifice) that was offered in the Temple in Jerusalem and was then roasted and eaten as part of the meal on Seder night.

Howard Zinn
Howard Zinn : "You Can't be Neutral on a Moving Train" Documentary, 2004.
Howard Zinn historian and activist has been on the forefront of progressive thought in America for decades. From the 50s until present day he has re-written history and given intellectual merit to anti-war and civil rights movements for his generation, ours and for generations to come. He has been at the right place at the right time to inspire millions. What makes Zinn so unique is that he never rallied or insisted to be on the forefront of social movements it was his personal beliefs and presence as a professor at the university level that showcased his drive to create change within ourselves that inspired a domino effect in all that surrounded him. He wants you to rise up and let your voice be heard. It is the minorities, women and poor that represent our democracy. This documentary chronicles Zinn's influential and inspiring commitment to social change and it is very inspiring.
I also recommend "A People's History of the United State" It was this book that introduced me to Zinn and helped to lay out a history of the United States which I could not and would never find in a traditional text book. I would like to thank my Sophomore year American History professor Ann Grenell at Northeastern University for feeding me information that I didn't even know I was hungry for.

The Hit Factory being turned into condos..
I was walking by the Hit Factory yesterday and voila .. you can now live where legends were made.
http://www.thehitfactorycondo.com/
:Info:
For $1 million to $4 million, you can now own a slice of the studio where Stevie Wonder, John Lennon and Billy Joel recorded their songs. The Hit Factory, a legendary recording studio, is living on as a luxury condominium after shutting its doors in 2005. The building will include 27 loft-style residences including six penthouses. You don't find condos cooler than these. "The area (Hell's Kitchen) has lots of hip restaurants and it's growing increasingly upscale," said Michael Stribling, executive vice president of Stribling Marketing Associates. "People want to be there now."
The Hit Factory will offer an expansive 2,000-square-foot roof deck, keyed-entry elevators and a fully equipped fitness center. Stribling says there's already strong interest in the project. Where else could you find a condo where the Rolling Stones, U2 and Mariah Carey once walked the halls?
Further south, in posh Chelsea, lies a new complex called The Caledonia that's drawing younger buyers (mostly 28 to 45 years old). With a pet spa, an Equinox Fitness Club and natural stone and wood elements selected by the Irish designer Clodagh, it's not hard to see why it would attract the younger set. One intriguing feature in the graceful building is a lounge with hand-selected volumes of art, style, fashion and design books from the Assouline Archive.
Location is another part of the appeal. "The location is near the Meatpacking District, with its upcoming boutiques and restaurants," said Susan de Frana, president of Related Residential Sales. "We're at the nexus where things are happening."

Who Killed the Electric Car?
This is a really important documentary to see. This country can be independent from needing foreign oil. While it won't happen anytime soon at least you can learn about alternative options. This film was well made and very informative I highly recommend it. You can find it at Netflix or your local video store.
Website for Information
http://www.whokilledtheelectriccar.com/
Documentary Trailer
http://www.apple.com/trailers/sony/whokilledtheelectriccar/
The film deals with the history of the electric car, its development and commercialization, mostly focusing on the General Motors EV1 , which was made available for lease in Southern California, after the California Air Resources Board passed the ZEV mandate in 1990, as well as the implications of the events depicted for air pollution , environmentalism, Middle East politics, and global warming.
The film details the California Air Resources Board's reversal of the mandate after suits from automobile manufacturers, the oil industry, and the George W. Bush administration. It points out that Bush's chief influences, Dick Cheney, Condoleezza Rice, and Andrew Card, are all former executives and board members of oil and auto companies.

School shooting
http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2007-03-07-school-shooting_N.htm
An extensive investigation conducted by the Humane Society of the United States found that many real furs made by some top designers were mislabeled as "faux fur" or as "raccoon fur" or "rabbit fur" when they were actually dog fur (from the Chinese raccoon dog, who are often skinned alive!). To read all about it, click here: http://www.hsus.org/furfree/news/fur_labeling_bill_introduced.html
To prevent such consumer deception, Representatives Jim Moran (D.-Va) and Mike Ferguson (R.-NJ) have introduced The Dog and Cat Fur Prohibition Enforcement Act of 2007 that would require all fur products to be truthfully labeled as well as ban the sale of fur from raccoon dogs. To help this bill become law, here's what each of us can do:
Please take one minute to call your Federal Representative to ask him/her to become a co-sponsor of bill H.R. 891, The Dog and Cat Fur Prohibition Enforcement Act of 2007, which would require all fur products to be truthfully labeled as well as ban the sale of fur from raccoon dogs. To find out who is your Federal Representative and his/her phone number, please visit: www.hsus.org/leglookup Then, once you've made your call, click here to have a follow up e-mail sent on your behalf by the Humane Society of the U.S.:
